about

Dig's tenth album, aptly called "X," was recorded once again in Avocado Studios, his personal musical playground. After 2015's "Glenn" Dig desired to depart from that mostly electronic album and return to his acoustic roots. He slowly began to write acoustic numbers, using a parlor guitar as inspirations. This took place during a tumultuous two years including a car accident, which left Dig unable to walk let alone record for many months.

Recovered, Dig returned to the studio with new ideas on how to record the songs he wrote. Dig tirelessly worked to combine folk ballad lyrics with world beat rhythms and orchestrations for a sound both rich and simple. His attempts to bring in guests promote his music was met with opposition and hostility from his musical peers who had growing friction with Dig. In a town with few venues and lots of ambition, this had always been inevitable. Some friends did pull through, namely Miss Chrissy B., whose beautiful Irish voice led to a haunting tone on "White Harbor" Dig also employed UK Cellist and composer Matt Constantine, to add the albums growing orchestral element. The rest of the instruments were played by Dig himself. They were the usual suspects of guitar and MIDI sounds, as well as the beautiful Celeste, which is the defining sound of the album.

The lyrics of the album pull from literature as well as themes of healing, the longing to return home, and the uncertainty of reconciliation.

"I fell far, through the planets and stars, but I can't even find the door..."
